This second volume of the collection “Pain and Analgesia References” deals with the most current aspects of neuropathic pain - pain associated with a lesion or a malfunctioning of the nervous system - in its epidemiology, clinical presentation, mechanisms and treatment.

It deals with the diversity of the clinical situations with which this pain may be associated, ranging from traditional neurological contexts, such as polyneuropathies or strokes, to much more “commonplace” clinical situations, such as lumbago or benign surgery.

This work addresses a broad public of specialists, but also GPs often confronted in their daily practice with patients presenting with this type of pain. Awareness of the importance of this pain, confirmed by recent epidemiological studies, its individualisation as a clinical entity and particular diagnosis and the development of new treatments, constitute clinical advances widely developed in this work.

This documented and updated book should be useful to many professionals anxious to improve their knowledge and know-how faced with patients in chronic pain, the treatment of which is often difficult and haphazard.
