Antiviral Research publishes research reports, short communications and review articles on the control of viral infections in humans, animals and plants. Its scope encompasses:

Novel approaches to the prevention and treatment of viral diseases
New antiviral drugs, including their synthesis, in vitro testing and mechanism of action
Assessment of drug safety and mechanisms of resistance
Novel vaccines for humans and animals
Therapeutic antibodies, interferons, interferon inducers and other host response modifiers
Animal models of viral diseases
Pathogenesis studies, especially those focusing on mechanisms by which viruses evade host immune responses
